If you're a Malaysian gamer, you already know how much the esports scene has exploded in recent years. What started as a pastime for kids at cybercafes has grown into a multi-billion ringgit industry — packed stadiums, professional players earning serious income, and tournaments broadcast live to millions of viewers worldwide. Malaysia itself has a thriving esports ecosystem, from the MPL Malaysia league for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang to DOTA 2 and CS2 teams representing the country on the international stage.
Bstar88 is among the first platforms in Malaysia to treat esports seriously as a full betting category — not just tacking on a title or two to a sports list. The Esports section on bstar88 features deep, wide-ranging markets covering more than 15 popular titles, from Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, DOTA 2, Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), Valorant, and League of Legends, to PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, and Rainbow Six Siege. Whatever game you follow most closely, chances are bstar88 already has a market for it.
What sets bstar88 apart from other platforms when it comes to esports is the sheer depth of markets on offer. You're not limited to betting on the overall match winner — bstar88 provides dozens of different markets for each match, from map handicaps and over/under total kills to first blood and highly specific options like how many towers will fall in a particular game. This gives bettors who truly understand the game a real edge, enabling them to make more informed decisions based on their knowledge.
Funding your bstar88 account to start esports betting is quick and straightforward — just use Touch 'n Go eWallet, GrabPay, DuitNow, Boost, ShopeePay, or FPX via Maybank2u and CIMB Clicks. The minimum deposit is as low as RM 20, with funds credited to your account in under a minute. So when the big MPL Malaysia match or The International DOTA 2 grand final kicks off, you'll be ready to bet without any frustrating delays.

If there is one game that truly defines Malaysian esports, it is Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. From internet cafés in the Klang Valley to residential neighbourhoods in Kelantan and Sabah, ML is played by millions of Malaysians every single day. MPL Malaysia (Mobile Legends Professional League) is the country's most prestigious ML league, where teams such as Bleed Esports, Team HAQ, ONDAS, and many others compete fiercely each season for the chance to represent Malaysia on the international stage.
At bstar88, every MPL Malaysia match is covered with an extensive range of markets. It goes well beyond simply picking a winner — you can bet on game handicaps (which team wins more games in the series), total games in the series, who secures first blood in a specific game, over/under total kills in a game, and many more specialist markets built for ML fans who know the game inside out. This is a significant step up from platforms that only offer basic win/lose markets.
Beyond MPL Malaysia, bstar88 also covers markets for MSC (Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup) and the M-Series (M1, M2, M3, and beyond) — global ML tournaments held annually with substantial prize pools. During these major events, bstar88 regularly offers special odds boosts for Malaysian teams, making it more rewarding to back our home favourites than ever.
The International (TI) is the esports tournament with the largest prize pool in history — often exceeding USD 40 million (over RM 180 million). This makes it one of the most anticipated events for esports fans and bettors alike at bstar88. The bstar88 DOTA 2 section offers the most comprehensive markets throughout the DPC (DOTA Pro Circuit) season, covering all regional leagues right through to the Majors and TI Grand Finals.
DOTA 2 betting at bstar88 ranks among the most popular options on the platform, thanks to the sheer depth of markets on offer. You can bet on overall series outcomes, map handicaps, total maps in a series, first Roshan kill, first team to destroy Barracks, and a wide range of other in-game markets. For players who truly understand the current DOTA 2 meta — strong heroes, team strategies, and each team's playstyle — this is a prime opportunity to put that knowledge to profitable use.
Multiple ways to bet on every esports match — far beyond just picking the winner.
The most straightforward market — pick the team you think will win the overall series (Bo1, Bo3, or Bo5). Odds update in real time throughout the match.
Bet with a map advantage. Team A at -1.5 means they must win 2-0 in a Bo3 series. This boosts the odds value when backing the stronger side.
Predict whether the series will be decided in 2 or 3 games (Bo3), or 3, 4, or 5 games (Bo5). A useful market when you expect a close fight — or a clean sweep.
Which team scores the first kill in a given game. An exclusive market well-suited for players who understand each team's early-game playstyle.
Predict whether the total kills across an entire game will go over or under the set line. Outcomes depend heavily on whether the teams play an aggressive or defensive style.
Place bets while the match is in progress. Odds shift every minute as the game unfolds — take advantage of live momentum and changing situations in real time.
For MOBAs like ML and DOTA 2 — which team destroys the first tower or secures the first major objective in the game. A specialty market offering attractive odds.
Bet early on the team you think will win the entire tournament. Odds are higher before it kicks off — a much greater potential return for those willing to back their read.
Cash out your bet before the match ends. Lock in a profit or reduce your losses when the game shifts in a direction you didn't expect.

A practical guide from the perspective of a Malaysian esports fan who also bets smart on bstar88.
In MOBAs like ML and DOTA 2, the meta (the dominant strategy) shifts with every new patch. Teams that adapt quickly to the current meta tend to be more competitive. Bettors who keep up with patch notes and game updates have a significant edge when making their decisions.
The head-to-head record between two teams can reveal useful psychological patterns. Some teams consistently struggle against a particular opponent's playstyle, even when they rank higher overall in the league.
Toward the end of a season or when matches overlap, teams may field alternative lineups or fatigued players. This information isn't always priced into the opening odds, and sharp bettors who stay on top of it can find real value.
In esports, momentum can shift in an instant. If your team gets off to a rough start but you can see from their playstyle that a comeback is on the cards, bstar88's in-play betting often offers higher odds at exactly that moment.
Roster changes — new signings, players returning from injury, or those in top form — can significantly affect a team's performance in ways that aren't always reflected in platform odds.

Real experiences from bstar88 members who follow esports from across Malaysia.
"Been a Mobile Legends player for years, but I only started really enjoying it when I found a platform that actually gets the game. bstar88's markets for MPL Malaysia are the most comprehensive out there — you can bet on first lord, total kills per game, everything. During last season's MPL finals I walked away with RM 5,400 from a 3-match accumulator. Absolute top tier!"
"I've been playing DOTA 2 for 8 years, so having a platform with per-map markets for DPC and TI is a dream. bstar88 has the best odds for DOTA 2 compared to every other platform I've tried. The cash out feature is a lifesaver too — it's bailed me out before when my favourite team suddenly stumbled in game 3."
"I love bstar88's live in-play betting for CS2. You can bet on every single round and the odds shift fast to reflect what's happening on the map. I once jumped in on a team that was down 4-10 and they came back to win 16-14 — the payout was huge because I knew how to read the momentum. Depositing via GrabPay is quick and painless too!"
